AU Background:
The AU itself is a canon side-story called Mirai Nikki: Paradox, essentially a doomed timeline. Its basic premise is that Aru Akise, a major supporting character from the main series, becomes the protagonist. Standard protagonist Yukiteru Amano becomes gravely injured by the Third, and Yuno Gasai gets outright erased from the timeline entirely. Not wishing for the timeline to go awry, Muru Muru pulls out one of Deus's artificial constructs (Akise), and tells him to pose in Yukiteru's place until the latter is back in stable condition. Muru Muru herself takes Yuno's place. However, Akise has plans of his own, and the timeline soon starts to rapidly spiral away from its path in the main storyline.

Tsubaki's background is the same as in the main storyline, but changes upon her meeting with "Yukiteru and Yuno". Instead of trying to Shanghai them both six ways to Sunday, Akise quite literally sweeps her off her feet, to show her the world outside of her prison. She confides in him that she believes she can't trust Funatsu, and suspects him of having her parents killed. It turns out she was horribly right, but with the help of Akise, the 12th, and Ai (one half of the 7ths), she manages to expose the truth to the rest of her followers, overthrowing Funatsu for good.

However, Muru Muru simply can't have this timeline disruption, with Tsubaki's turn for the good creating a domino affect, changing the fate of almost the entire cast. She brainwashes Yukiteru, then healed, to attack. The others try to hold off the brainwashed Yukiteru while Tsubaki escorts Akise to ?Muru Muru's memory bank, to try and uncover what exactly she's trying to hide, and prevent her from destroying the timeline entirely. It's too late, however, and the timeline ends up erased just as Akise discovers something quite disturbing.

Personality:
Tsubaki appears to be the rather archetypal Japanese "yamato nadeshiko"--the "perfect" subserviant and polite woman. Because she partially is. She is extremely polite, can be easily convinced to go along with others' plans, and she often prefers to stay silent rather than voice her opinion. But a lot of that is due to the horrible treatment Tsubaki has endured during her many years in captivity and isolation in the Omekata temple. It's actually managed to surpress her true colors. Underneath the surface, Tsubaki actually is very opinionated. She can be blunt in her feelings to the point of being rude. And she does have common sense. She was not too happy to have Akise take her away from the temple, yet went along anyway. Why? Because fear of having more taken away when she has virtually nothing left, due to "bad behavior."

Tsubaki is polite, though, and generally very nice. She cares about her followers despite the horrors they've put her through. And she was against murdering Funatsu despite every horrible thing he's done. And she has hope. That's one of her driving factors. Through the daily madness, she keeps her head held high--because she hasn't hit rock bottom quite yet.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Tsubaki is a figurehead and is the daughter of two very important people. As such, she's a little bit of a "rich bitch" one sees. She has bouts of minor selfishness and entitlement, and will sometimes spout out the "you wouldn't understand; you're not in my position" line. She can be whiny to a mild degree, too, and is sarcastic a lot.

There are quite a lot of differences between Tsubaki of the main timeline and Tsubaki of Paradox. However, Paradox!Tsubaki does indeed have the potential to become just as psychotic and murderous as her main timeline self. It was a simple trigger for her; losing a precious object drove her to insanity. Who says this couldn't happen in the future? She very well may be just on the edge of the slippery slope, especially as the person who saved her--Akise--vanished soon afterwards.

So while we're at it, let's take a look at the Tsubaki from the main timeline, to see what poor Paradox!Tsubaki could very well become with the wrong trigger: The Tsubaki from the main timeline is crazy. Very, very crazy. She lives under the mask of the "yamato nadeshiko" as well, but instead of revealing a normal girl underneath, it reveals a raging psychopath, broken from years of abuse. She has nothing against killing, and her followers are nothing more than despensable tools. She is a pitiful, pitiful soul, and it's suggested she actually hates herself more than anything else. Her explicit goal if she wins the game? Destroy the world, and everyone in it.

But that's not likely to be her. We hope.

Abilities:
Tsubaki's Future Diary is called the Thousand League Eyes, and takes the form of a large scroll. It predicts the both individual and group actions of her hundreds of followers. Though without her cult in the Tower, it would be virtually useless.
